Overview

 

The Quality Lead is responsible for overseeing Project Quality Assurance and Quality Control, with a strong focus on site quality activities and installation processes. This role ensures compliance with project standards, manages quality documentation, and facilitates smooth handover to stakeholders. The Quality Lead promotes the use of Sisk management systems and provides training to staff where required.

Site Quality Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and promote the quality message on site
  • Lead and manage site quality activities and installation processes to meet project requirements with the aim of ensuring that all project and customer deliverables are met.
  • Act as the link between works on site and Sisk Site Management Team to ensure that customer requirements are addressed by the management systems or project specific procedures.
  • Ensure benchmarks are prepared in line with technical submittals & contract requirements and ready for client & DT review
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of all quality documentation for installation and handover.
  • Assist in W1, W2 & W3 walkdown process.
  • Drive implementation and compliance with Sisk management systems across the project.
  • Deliver training and guidance to staff on quality systems and best practices.
  • Support site delivery teams by coordinating with site quality teams to collect, organize, and maintain quality data for completed installations.
  • Monitor and report on quality performance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Undertake Induction of new employees into the company systems and procedures.
  • Undertake training of staff and suppliers on company best practice.

 

Quality Risk Mitigation 

  • To ensure that the Sisk Q10s are implemented where applicable.
  • To be aware of and mitigate against quality risk trends that may occur.
  • Ensuring Quality is a Key Focus on all our Projects.
  • Reviewing the close out of Audits
  • Carry out Quality Health Checks/Site Inspections of the project construction activities.
  • Manage and communicate any non-conformances and defects to the Package Managers.
  • To promote Quality Awareness and to ensure that the Quality Cycle and support tools are embedded as a constant within all our people.

 

Support Roles 

 

  • Supporting all work colleagues in their roles through the management of Quality on the project.
  • Carry out quality awareness workshops.
  • Where requested, advise on Quality concerns as well as helping provide practical solutions.
  • Attend project meetings with Sisk site teams.
  • Collect and analyse data for Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), including quality audits, non-conformance, customer complaint, customer satisfaction, supplier feedback
  • Preparation of reports for the Project Leadership and BU Quality Manager at applicable intervals.
  • Alert the Sisk Site Leadership and BU Quality Manager if there are inadequate measures for Quality identified on the project.
  • Where requested attend other meetings with Client and/or supply chain.
  • Manage / assist customer and third-party audits and inspections as directed by the BU Quality Manager.

 

Experience

Skills & Knowledge 

Essential 

Minimum 5 years in QA/QC roles within construction or engineering projects.

  • To have a proven record in the quality management of DC projects at a manager level.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing site quality activities and installation processes.
  • Experience and understanding of quality issues within construction. A knowledge of sustainability and health & safety issues would be beneficial.

Desirable 

  • Experience with Tier 1 contractors on large or complex projects 
  • Knowledge of digital quality systems and data analytics tools 
  • Understanding of lean construction and right first time methodologies 

 

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC standards and procedures.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and other relevant quality management systems.
  • Proficiency in quality documentation and reporting tools.

 

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Be self-motivated and have a passion about Quality and the success of the company.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to train and mentor staff effectively.
  • Must be able to win the trust of others that are not direct reports and be able to influence the way in which others work
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative or work as part of a wider team.
  • Ability to deal confidently with colleagues, subcontractors and external consultants

Qualifications

Qualifications & Training 

Essential 

  • Degree or diploma in engineering, construction management or related field 
  • Professional quality qualification or equivalent experience 
  • Auditor training to ISO standards 

Desirable 

  • Member of a recognised body (IRCA, CQI, ets)
  • Postgraduate qualification in quality management or continuous improvement 
  • Additional training in lean, six sigma or process optimisation 
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or equivalent.
