Overview

 

 

We are seeking a Bim Lead to join our Data centre team in Oxfordshire.

 

The BIM Lead plays a senior role in implementing and managing Digital Project Delivery (DPD) strategies across the business, from pre-contract through to delivery and handover. This position requires a combination of technical proficiency, strategic leadership and project delivery expertise 

 

The BIM Lead is a key member of the wider DPD leadership team and reports directly to the Head of DPD.

Responsibilities

 

Tender Stage

  • Support the Pre-Construction team by reviewing tender documentation to assess digital and BIM-related requirements.  
  • Contribute to tender strategy development, DPD scenarios and stakeholder alignment.  
  • Ensure all consultants and subcontractors understand and commit to their DPD responsibilities.  
  • Provide technical review and quality assurance of 3D models, including federation, clash detection, engineering logic and construction logistics.  
  • Evaluate consultant scopes and fee proposals in line with DPD delivery goals.  

Business-wide Responsibilities 

  • Lead the rollout of DPD strategies across all applicable projects in the region.  
  • Manage and allocate BIM resources effectively across teams and projects.  
  • Collaborate with Project Leads and Regional Directors to align DPD delivery with client and business goals  
  • Identify and address operational pain points through the application of suitable technologies.  
  • Conduct regular project assessments to measure DPD maturity and report monthly updates.  
  • Promote digital excellence internally and externally through presentations and industry engagement. 

Project Delivery Stage 

  • Lead DPD kick-off meetings involving internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Develop and implement a tailored DPD strategy (BEP, MPDT, MIDP, digital tools/platforms).  
  • Establish protocols and systems for managing coordination, issue resolution and clash management. 
  • Champion the use of 3D BIM for design and construction, 4D planning and related digital technologies. 
  • Monitor project adherence to DPD plans and flag any gaps or risks. 
  • Coordinate and deliver DPD upskilling initiatives across projects and central functions. 
  • Trial and oversee the implementation of new digital tools and innovations. 
  • Capture lessons learned and disseminated best practices across the organisation. 

Experience

Digital Tools & Technical Knowledge 

  • Advanced proficiency in 3D BIM software, clash detection and data validation workflow.  
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 19650 and associated digital standards.  
  • Familiarity with 4D, 5D and 6D BIM dimensions is advantageous.  
  • Competent in Microsoft office tools and reporting software.  
  • Proven experience with digital field tools and platforms (e.g., VF, BIM360)  

 

 Essential 

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in delivering construction or civil engineering projects using BIM methodologies.  

 

Desirable 

  • Strong strategic leadership and problem-solving capabilities.  
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams in diverse project environments.  
  • Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.  
  • Organised and self-directed with strong prioritisation and time management.  
  • Confident in facilitating workshops and delivering practical training sessions.  

Qualifications

Essential 

  • Degree-qualified in Construction, Digital Engineering, Computing or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).  

 

Desirable

  • Full membership of relevant professional institution is desirable.
