Overview

 

 

As a Proposals Manager (PM), you will work closely with the Head of Proposals – UK Construction and regional bid/sector teams to support Sisk’s work winning activities, and identify and develop operational best practice, raising the standards in how we produce and manage bids.

 

You will develop innovative strategies, (capture, win and sector etc.) and translate these into successful proposal management plans, including development of win themes, answer planning, evidence capture, presentation, and submission into programme delivery.

In this hands-on role, you will regularly interact with senior colleagues and build relationships with teams across internal business units. The PM will encourage bid best practice and champion work winning strategies throughout the proposal lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Applying Sisk’s work winning process, helping our technical experts and proposals team to provide innovative ideas and high-quality evidence.
  • Take a proactive role in the writing of standard content / CVs / project profiles – closing gaps where possible by interviewing / questioning relevant parts of the business.
  • Proof / copy edit responses to ensure compelling, benefits-driven copy.
  • Proactively develop and manage a network of subject matter experts.
  • Identify and re-work existing pre-written content in line with specific questions and bespoke to individual client requirements.
  • Re-write / edit proposal responses from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving contributions from operations, commercial, legal, customer, HR and finance
  • Take the lead in writing compelling, factual, focused executive summaries.
  • Managing review deadlines – lead, guide and coordinate quality colour reviews, programming them into your bid plan. Issuing guidance, 
  • evolving best practice, and driving value through the review process at all stages.
  • Ability to develop and translate key messages through graphics and well-presented documents.
  • Deliver completed written proposal responses against agreed deadlines.
  • Post bid presentations – ensure storyboards and/or scripts align to bid strategy and produce additional supporting materials as required.
  • Capture all new content within Bid Content Library (Aftercare).
  • Record and share lessons learnt / best practice.
  • Apply client bid feedback to future responses drive continuous improvement.
  • Flexibility to travel to sites throughout the UK when required.

Experience

  • Extensive experience of “hands on” proposals management within Construction environment
  • Desirable sector experience healthcare, residential, commercial, public sector
  • A degree-level qualification in an appropriate subject
  • A pro-active approach, using initiative and taking responsibility for own actions
  • Confidence to delegate to all levels, where required
  • Strong written English language skills.
  • Be proficient in MS Office.
  • Experience of Adobe Creative Suite software package is essential.
  • Have the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines and communicate and influence at senior levels.
  • Ability to work on an individual basis as well as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work outside standard working hours.
  • APMP, CIM or another Professional Memberships are advantage but not essential.

Qualifications

Essential 

  • Degree educated and certified to APMP Foundation/Practitioner Level.
  • Advanced MS Word Skills & proficient in MS Office.
