Reporting to the Planner, the Assistant Planner supports project planning, scheduling and monitoring. The role ensures project programmes are accurate, achievable and compliant with company procedures while supporting resource management and timely delivery. You will work closely with project teams, subcontractors and clients to track progress, identify risks and provide reporting while developing planning expertise.
Planning and Scheduling
Assist in preparing and maintaining project schedules using planning software
Support development of project programmes including milestone and resource planning
Monitor project progress and update schedules to reflect actual performance
Identify critical path activities, constraints and dependencies
Project Support
Assist in forecasting resource requirements and material delivery schedules
Support project teams in coordinating works across disciplines
Contribute to project risk identification, mitigation and reporting
Reporting and Analysis
Produce progress reports, dashboards and visualisations for internal and client use
Analyse delays, variances and trends to support decision-making
Maintain project records, logs and planning documentation
Stakeholder Engagement
Liaise with project teams, subcontractors and clients to ensure alignment on schedules
Support project meetings, reviews and planning workshops
Communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve planning processes and tools
Support adoption of digital planning and scheduling systems
Contribute to lessons learned and best practice sharing across projects
Essential
Analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
Good communication and teamwork skills
Excellent proficiency in MS Excel
Desirable
Work experience or internship in construction, planning or scheduling
Knowledge of BIM, digital planning tools or project management systems
Understanding of construction processes, resource management and risk mitigation
Essential
Degree or equivalent in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related discipline
Willingness to learn planning methodologies and project control principles
Desirable
Exposure to complex multi-disciplinary projects
Training or interest in advanced planning techniques, earned value management or digital project management tools
Professional membership of a relevant body such as AACE, RICS or PMI
