Overview

 

We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Build Business Unit, working closely with the Project Commercial Team and the construction team to ensure a successful project is delivered, while maintaining relationships and maximising commercial returns and managing risk. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be based on our Great Ormond Street Hospital project in London. The perfect candidate would have NEC3 experience and Healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate the project's commercial strategy with the ability to provide recommendations to suit the project requirements as it develops.
  • Liaise with & commercially influence/challenge the other members of the team and the construction process.
  • Managing members of the team whilst providing sufficient guidance to aid the career development of the more junior members of the team.
  • Represents the company and takes ownership for commercial & contractual tasks, including but not limited to:
    • Preparing subcontract tenders, analysing, selecting appropriate s/c & finalising subcontract terms and conditions, financial & commercially manage to final account completion.
    • Risk management
    • Preparing and managing budgets, forecasts, and  sections of the project cost reports
    • Ensure compliance with internal commercial processes, procedures, and best practices.

    • Subcontract management under multiple options of NEC3 ECS.
  • Manages the recording and submission of claims in respect of delay and loss / expense. Able to formulate detailed arguments in respect of such issues and make representation to the relevant parties
  • Proactive and able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Commercial support and management of critical detailed design.

Experience

  • Strong understanding of NEC contracts
  • Proven experience in managing and closing out compensation events
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Subcontract management, including the ability to avoidance / resolve disputes
  • Understanding of relevant legislation
  • Monthly reporting / CVR appreciation
  • Manage both people & situations sensitively & to commercial advantages.
  • Commercially inventive & astute

Qualifications

  • Quantity Survey BSc or similar
  • Professional membership or working towards
