As M&E Quantity Surveyor you will join our commercial team and provide expertise across mechanical and electrical elements of major projects. Working within a Tier 1 construction environment, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing costs, contracts and commercial reporting while ensuring value is delivered at every stage. This is a key role supporting project delivery and client satisfaction on complex, large-scale projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide cost management, measurement and valuation of M&E packages throughout project lifecycles

  • Prepare, review and negotiate contracts and subcontracts for M&E works

  • Monitor project budgets, forecasts and cash flow to ensure financial control

  • Assess and process interim valuations, variations, final accounts and claims

  • Liaise with project managers, design teams and subcontractors to ensure commercial objectives are met

  • Support procurement strategies for M&E subcontractors and suppliers

  • Maintain accurate records, reports and cost analyses for internal and client reporting

  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, company policies and relevant legislation

  • Contribute to risk management processes and identify opportunities for cost savings

  • Collaborate with wider project teams to support successful delivery of quality, safety and programme outcomes

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a focus on mechanical and electrical packages

  • Strong commercial knowledge of contracts, procurement and cost management within construction

  • Experience on large-scale projects in sectors such as commercial, infrastructure, life sciences, technology or data centres is desirable

  • Familiarity with M&E systems, drawings and technical specifications

  • Track record of managing subcontractors and suppliers effectively

  • Excellent numeracy, analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage workload across multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related field

  • Chartered status (RICS or equivalent) is desirable but not essential

  • Strong IT skills with proficiency in cost management software, Excel and reporting systems

  • Knowledge of construction contracts such as NEC and JCT

  • Ongoing professional development in M&E or construction commercial management will be supported
