Build Ireland’s Future. Shape Yours.

John Sisk & Son are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Civils Construction Planner to join our team on the landmark Adare Bypass infrastructure project. This is a key role in one of Ireland’s most significant road developments, offering a unique opportunity to influence the successful delivery of a major civil engineering scheme.

Responsibilities

As a Planner, you will play a pivotal part in the planning, programming, and delivery support for the project across all phases — from design and procurement through to construction and handover. You’ll lead planning activities using Primavera P6 or Asta Powerproject, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and provide strategic programme insights through 2D and 4D visual planning tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the contract baseline programme, fully logic-linked with critical paths.
  • Lead the creation of target construction programmes, tender event schedules and procurement plans.
  • Integrate 4D planning and visual phasing to clearly communicate sequencing and logistics.
  • Report on project performance, progress, and risks weekly and monthly.
  • Track live site data, maintain as-built records, and input into change assessments.
  • Coordinate with supply chain partners to validate lead-ins, durations, and labour requirements.
  • Engage in peer reviews, mentor junior planners, and ensure planning best practice across the team.

Experience

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in a similar Civils Planning role on large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 and/or Asta Powerproject.
  • Strong knowledge of planning for roads, bridges, drainage, and major civil engineering works.
  • Familiarity with NEC and/or JCT contracts and contract management principles.
  • Ability to translate technical data into clear, visual programme outputs (2D/4D).
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging with both site and design teams.
  • Experience with Synchro, BIM, CDE platforms, and S-curve analysis highly beneficial.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Training

  • Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or similar.
  • Relevant software certifications (Asta, P6, Synchro) an advantage.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development (minimum 6 CPD events annually).
