John Sisk & Son is seeking an experienced and driven Design Manager to join our industry-leading team based at our Citywest Head Office, with regular involvement at our high-profile Munster Project. This role offers flexibility with site-based and limited remote working, ideal for professionals looking to grow within a dynamic, forward-thinking environment.

Responsibilities

As a Design Manager at Sisk, you will take a leading role in coordinating design activities across pre-construction and delivery phases. You'll collaborate with consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure quality, programme, and cost targets are achieved—bringing together great design and great delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate design teams, subconsultants, and design-related subcontractors
  • Drive design delivery from pre-construction through execution
  • Chair and minute design meetings, ensuring alignment and clarity
  • Implement and uphold Sisk’s Design Management Procedures
  • Provide technical input on planning, building regulations, procurement, and strategic design risks
  • Lead value engineering initiatives, identifying opportunities for smarter solutions
  • Mentor Design Coordinators and contribute to team development
  • Support contractor proposals and employer requirements
  • Ensure statutory compliance and manage interface between design and construction teams

Experience

  • 5–10 years' experience in construction with strong design management exposure
  • Proven track record on civil engineering infrastructure projects
  • Deep understanding of client procurement routes, contract forms, and pre-construction workflows
  • Strong working knowledge of planning, building regulations, CDM, and BREEAM
  • Excellent planning, coordination, communication, and leadership skills

 

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Construction, or Design-related discipline
