Reporting to the Design Manager, the Design Technician will support the delivery of high-quality 2D and 3D technical design drawings and BIM coordination for modular construction projects. This role involves coordinating with architectural, engineering, and project management teams to ensure design accuracy, efficiency, and buildability.
Prepare and manage detailed 2D drawings and 3D BIM models using Revit, AutoCAD, Vertex BD, or SolidWorks
Produce accurate shop drawings for factory assembly and offsite manufacturing
Coordinate and integrate civil, structural, and architectural elements
Maintain drawing registers and document control in line with internal standards
Participate in multidisciplinary model coordination using Navisworks or similar tools
Interpret engineering sketches and specifications for modular construction
Engage in technical collaboration with engineers, architects, and contractors
Support product development and design innovation for new modular systems
Mentor junior technicians and contribute to continuous improvement within the team
We are open to candidates coming from:
Architectural or engineering consultancies
Main contractors
BIM engineers or coordinators
Experience in product development or working with building materials
Prior exposure to offsite manufacturing environments or design-for-manufacture methodologies
Honours degree (Level 8) in Architectural Technology, Engineering, or a related field
Proficiency in Revit is essential; familiarity with AutoCAD, Vertex BD, Navisworks, or SolidWorks is desirable
Understanding of Building Regulations, Technical Guidance Documents (TGDs), and BIM standards
Knowledge of MMC, modular systems, and light gauge steel framing is a plus
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Excellent team collaboration and communication skills
Work on high-profile, sustainable modular construction projects
