Overview

 

Reporting into the  Design Manager you will have the ability to be tasked and work independently to co-ordinate the design flow of information between the relevant parties and maintaining the JSS Design Management Plan during the latter stages of the design stage (RIBA D-F).

You may have specific responsibility for the design and co-ordination of a singular trade package, or to co-ordinate multiple trade interfaces whilst following the established Design Management strategies for the project in terms of procedural and communication protocols. Working towards gaining specific Technical knowledge of relevant Trade or Statutory Obligation under the direction of your line manager.

A good communicator with the ability to be innovative an influence design solutions To provide sufficient, accurate information to allow the safe construction of the project and to provide quality, cost effective and environmentally friendly solutions in line with the contract documents.

Responsibilities

  • Aware of their responsibilities under CDM and gains acceptance of a considered approach to managing design risk 
  • Develops relationships with site staff (particularly sub contractors) and helps resolve HSE issues 
  • Ensure the design recognises all aspects of health & safety, environmental and quality related matters. 
  • Ensures the correct application and secure use of appropriate technology within the design team. 
  • Assists others in ensuring construction and design teams deliver against the PEP 
  • Compiles relevant information in order to assess the suitability of design sub – contractors. 
  • Quickly recognizes implications of imposed changes and, where necessary, notifies their line manager of potential impact. 
  • Develops and maintains change management procedures for the Project 
  • Promotes and communicates a proactive attitude to change whilst remaining resilient helpful and adaptable.  
  • Makes effective use of document control to manage information 
  • Contributes to knowledge sharing events 

Experience

  • Have an understanding of different Client procurement routes 
  • Experience of site/contract procedures would be an advantage. 
  • Ability to organise, plan, programme and manage workloads 
  • Understanding of Building Regulations and Planning Permission procedures. 
  • Time management 
  • Be able to use MicrosoftWord/Excel/PowerPoint 
  • Be able to use View Point for Projects (4Projects) 
  • Commercial awareness 

Qualifications

  • OND/ONC Building Studies 
  • Construction industry experience 
  • Experience using CAD 
  • BIM basics 
  • Any Planning software
